Mithai, or Indian sweets, come in many forms — some built on milk solids, others on dry fruits and nuts. At Vishwas, our sweets range leans toward the dry-fruit side, with kaju katli, dates, figs and laddus among our regular offerings. This guide explains what sets these sweets apart, how to think about sugar and dairy in a couple of our recipes, and how to store mithai once you bring it home.
What Makes Dry Fruit Mithai Different
Broadly speaking, Indian sweets fall into a few families. Some, like barfi or peda, rely heavily on khoya or mava — milk solids reduced down over heat. Others are built primarily from dry fruits and nuts — cashews, dates, figs, almonds and pistachios — with less reliance on dairy. Our range sits mostly in this second category, though the exact recipe varies by product.
The Sweets in Our Range
- Kaju Katli (without warkh and mava) — a cashew-based sweet made without the traditional silver leaf (warkh) or milk-solid mava.
- Kaju Katli (less sugar, without mava) — the same cashew base, made with a reduced sugar content.
- Dryfruit Fun Dates — a dates-based sweet finished with dry fruits.
- Dryfruit Fun Anjeer — a similar preparation built around dried figs (anjeer).
- Dry Fruit Laddu — a round sweet made primarily from a mix of dry fruits and nuts.
[INFORMATION REQUIRED] Full ingredient lists for each of the above are needed so we can describe them more precisely and flag any allergens.
A Note on Sugar and Dairy
A couple of terms in our range are worth explaining clearly, since they’re easy to misread.
“Less sugar” does not mean sugar-free
Our Kaju Katli (less sugar, without mava) has a reduced sugar content compared with our standard recipe. It is not sugar-free, and the product still contains sugar. If you’re managing sugar intake for medical reasons, please check with us for exact figures before buying.
[INFORMATION REQUIRED] Nutritional information and sugar content per product are needed to answer sugar-related questions precisely.
“Without mava” does not mean dairy-free
Mava is a milk-solid ingredient, and our Kaju Katli is made without it. This changes the texture and richness, but it doesn’t automatically make the product dairy-free, since other ingredients may still contain dairy.
[INFORMATION REQUIRED] A full allergen declaration for each product is needed before this can be stated definitively either way.
Choosing Mithai for Gifting and Celebrations
Dry fruit mithai travels well and holds its texture better than milk-based sweets over a few days, which makes it a practical option for gifting — Diwali hampers, wedding favours, or a box sent to family further away. Kaju Katli is a familiar, safe choice for most occasions, while Dryfruit Fun Dates or Dryfruit Fun Anjeer suit anyone who prefers something less overtly sweet.
Storing Your Mithai
To keep mithai in good condition once it arrives:
- Store it away from moisture, direct sunlight and heat.
- Keep it in a cool, dry place, in an airtight container if the original packaging has been opened.
- Avoid storing it near strongly scented items or non-food products, since mithai can absorb odours.
These storage guidelines mirror what’s printed on our own packaging.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Kaju Katli with and without mava?
Mava is a milk-solid ingredient used in many traditional sweets. Our Kaju Katli is made without it, which changes the texture and richness slightly, though it doesn’t automatically make the sweet dairy-free.
[INFORMATION REQUIRED] Confirm whether any other ingredient in the recipe contains dairy.
Is your “less sugar” Kaju Katli sugar-free?
No. Less sugar means a reduced sugar content compared with our standard recipe, not the absence of sugar.
Are Vishwas sweets vegetarian?
Yes, all Vishwas sweets are vegetarian.
How long do dry fruit sweets like Dryfruit Fun Dates stay fresh?
This depends on storage conditions and the specific product.
[INFORMATION REQUIRED] Confirmed shelf life guidance is needed for an accurate answer.
Are your sweets suitable for someone with a nut allergy?
Several of our sweets are cashew or dry-fruit based, so they aren’t suitable for anyone with a nut allergy.
[INFORMATION REQUIRED] A full allergen statement for each product is needed to confirm this precisely.
What’s the best way to store mithai after opening the box?
Keep it in an airtight container, away from moisture, heat, direct sunlight and strong odours.
